Dwayne John Bravo is the former captain of West Indies Cricket team, born on 7 October 1983. He is a Trinidadian all rounder who has played all the formats of cricket. He bats right handed and bowls left hand medium fast. With Brian Lara as his inspiration he worked his way in the field of cricket. He is one of the best all rounder that has played the field. He also is a singer and wrote a very famous song ‘ champion’ , which was a solo hit present in every cricket lovers playlist. This song was composed after west Indies winning the second T20 cricket World Cup. Dwayne Bravo has a lot of accomplishments in every format of the game. After the revolution of T20, he became one of sought-after players in this format. He became the first ever west Indies player to be the captain of both the ODI’s and the test when he was just 24 years old in 2007.

He other than being a cricketer is also a singer and an actor. He is an avid music lover and had a singles with Beenie Man and Guyanese dance hall star Timeka Marshall. He also has made a special appearance in a tamil movie named Ula. In 2014, he made a solo song Go Gyal Go. In 2015, he won the hummingbird medal which is the third highest award in Trinidad and Tobago. He is the son of John Bravo and Jocelyn Bravo. He has a half brother Darren Bravo who is also a cricketer. He plays domestic cricket for Trinidad and Tobago. He is a left hand batsman and also his batting style has been drawn comparison to that of Brian Lara. Darren Bravo along with Denesh Ramdin set the record for the highest 3rd wicket partnership in ODI history. In the first match of the 2013/14 Test series against New Zealand in Dunedin, Bravo made a fighting maiden double-century after nearly 10 hours of batting to help the West Indies to an unlikely draw. He is a right hand medium fast bowler.
Dwayne Bravo has two children, one son Dwayne Bravo junior and one daughter Dwaynice Bravo. His girlfriend’s name is Regina Ramjit who is a model. She is also an entrepreneur and owns a boutique which goes by the name 11th Street boutique which is very famous in Barbados. She is also a part of an NGO “Precious teeth foundation” , which helps underprivileged children. She has won the title of miss Barbados 2013 and was the contestant in miss world 2013. Dwayne Bravo’s career
Bravo made his splendid debut for Trinidad and Tobago against Barbados in 2002, opening the innings and scoring 15 and 16 but not bowling. He scored his maiden first-class century a month later and was included in the West Indies A squad for their tour of England in 2002. Always aspired to play cricket, he at the age of 10 was selected in the Queen’s Park Cricket Club Under-15 side and then at the age of 17, started bowling.
As an opener; Bravo didn’t have great 2002 ICC U-19 World Cup. Bravo scored just 31 runs in two innings in his first-class, making his debut for Trinidad and Tobago against Barbados in Busta Cup in February 2002. In the same year, he toured with West Indies A side in England. He made his international debut against England in the tour of caribbean in 2003 in which he failed to bat but took 2 for 21 with his bowling. As a batsman, he was underrated but continued to chip in whenever needed although it was as a bowler and fielder that Bravo took rapid strides at his peak.
His perfect all rounder skills gave him well paid offers from T20 leagues which led to him preferring those to international cricket. The issues with the Windies board didn’t help his cause either. Despite all this, he played white-ball cricket for the Caribbean side consistently till late 2014 when as captain, he initiated a pull out of the team, midway during their ODI tour of India. Bravo is a cricketer with well fielding skills. He has made a name because of these skills that he possess. Along with Jerome Taylor, he set the record (66 runs) for the highest ever 9th wicket partnership in T20Is.
He is one of three players to have scored 1000 runs and taken 50 wickets in each format of the game. Dwayne Bravo’s career is extraordinary, the number of franchises that he has worked with is an example for that. In IPL 2008 -2010, he played in mumbai indians and 2011-2015 and 2018 to present in Chennai super kings and in 2016 in Gujarat lions. He also has been playing in PPL in a few teams. The Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash League, the Chittagong Kings in the Bangladesh Premier League, and Kent and Essex in English county cricket. In 2013, he was named as a franchise player at the launch of the Caribbean Premier League

Bravo played ICC World cup 2007 for the West Indies, but Bravo was unable to continue in 2011 World Cup, reason being his injury problem which he got during the match playing against team South Africa. In 2012 ICC World cup, he played as a batsman and played important role in making his team won the 2012 ICC World Cup. In the ICC Champions Trophy 2006, Bravo took 7 wickets and scored 164 runs, Bravo made his first One Day international century by making a majestic 112 runs not out as part of a 2nd wicket stand of 174 runs with Chris Gayle. He also did very well bowling and dismissed cricketers like Michael Clarke and Chris Read.
In IPL 2012, Bravo was one of the top performing players for Chennai super kings and he scored 461 runs and was also the highest wicket taker of his team with 19 wickets. In 2013, his spectacular performance got him 32 wickets and overthrew Albie Morkel as the highest wicket taker in the IPL series, Winning the purple cap. In 2015, he was back in his game and showed excellent bowling skills to accumulate 25 wickets and again winning the purple cap. He is the only player to have gotten the purple hat twice. Not only the batting and bowling, his fielding skills are also are extremely well.

- Dwayne Bravo has a few conspiracies. In 2013 he became the captain taking the place of Darren Sammy but due to his payment issues with the cricket board he got removed as the captain.
- In the year of 2014 October, when West Indies left out of the tour of India in midway, Bravo was not only sacked from the captaincy but also from the side.
- In 2005, during a test series against team South Africa, Bravo scored 107 runs before getting out to Mark Boucher in 4th Test in Antigua. But his performance got overshadowed after he accused South African Graeme Smith for putting a racist comment on him. Later this incident turned bigger but even after the subsequent hearing no evidence could be found and so the charges were dropped against Smith, who then immediately demanded an apology from Bravo. But bravo got support of West Indies Cricket Board, refused to do so and received a lots of criticism from the South African press for all of this, whilst finding support at home as a human rights campaigner.
Dwayne Bravo Retirement
On 31 January 2015, Bravo declared his retirement from test cricket. In October of 2018, he declared his retirement from every format except the T20 format. But he came out of his retirement in 2019 to play T20 world cup in 2020 for West Indies. He has been a great asset to the team .
